Run With the Hunted - Brendan and Jamie

Hey everybody!
big news, we re-recorded the untitled song that I posted last february.

I got a new crash, and Brendan wasn't using a 15 watt practice amp.
It sounds a lot better, but it's still not perfect.

The Ugly Truth Piano Solo - Louis Logic

A moving piano performance of a song about racism.
Of course, it's satirical. I don't think anyone could be this racist in this day and age.
And for what it's worth, Lousi Logic is Black, he just has light skin.

Craziest ghost story ever! (My experience with the Paranormal)

My Experience With The Paranormal

Okay, so I was sitting in the dark, right?
On my laptop - and my cats in the room
rummaging around for a few minutes, and it heads out, downstairs.
So, I'm sitting in the dark for about fifteen minutes
and I hear a little bit of rattling on my dresser,
 I look,
 nothings there.
 So I continue,
 and - a few minutes later - I hear a rattling again;
and a bit of scratching like a mouse running around in an empty drawer.
(Believe me, I'm not as welfare as it sounds.)
So I get up and turn on the light,
because something's got to be in there.
 I check the drawers;
 nothing.
 So I'm like:
 "Thats weird as shit"
 I sit down again
 and turn the light off.
Now, im sort of waiting to hear something,
and sure enough, a few minutes later I hear a little more rattling and scratching
 So, I'm like,
 ''Papa?''
(the nickname I had for my Grandpa, who died in my house about two years  ago.)
 And it stops.
I didnt even say it out loud.
I say in my head 'poppa if you're here with me make a noise'
and about thirty seconds later, I hear some scratching and some rattling, and a creak elsewhere  in the house.
I look over and my dresser is rocking back and forth, and the drawers on my dresser are  pushing in and out furiously.
I remember what order they were in and everything.
So I sort of mouth out the words: 'Poppa, quit it'
 And it stops.
 Just like that.
So I'm freaked the fuck out, and extremely curious. I turn on the light and check the drawers  again.
My cat was in the top drawer, and the top drawer was closed with about a 3 inch gap.
The other drawers are all in a different order.
So now I'm sort of unsure about it.
 I might try it again.

Amazing way to learn guitar!

"NPLICITY (pronounced: "in•plicity") - is the guitarist's audio player. It's designed to slow down a song without changing the pitch. Learning songs has never been easier!"

This statement couldn't be more true! I came across this program in an ad, and so I downloaded the trial version of this program, imported some of my favorite songs on guitar and drums (it's marketed to the guitarist, but works very well for drums as well). I could easily tell what notes they were playing, and the timing behind them. This program is pretty awesome, and I am considering buying it at this point because of how satisfied i was, as early as the first song that I imported into it. You can control the whole program with only the keyboard, and fine tune tempo and pitch to get a truer sound, to mess around, or try in a different key.

Check it out, and download your copy at the official website http://www.nplicity.com/

Household Dub

This is Chris Tsagakis (Rx Bandits' drummer) creating some household dub.
He used only things inside his house to create the samples in this song.
More on that, and the song: HERE.

Cellophane - The Sound of Animals Fighting

I would like to say this is 'little-known' but I have a feeling that a lot of people have
actually heard of them - I mean, their cd is sold at wal-mart

The Sound of Animals Fighting is a collaboration of a number of current rock/progressive bands who look to create
a musical idea that is entirely different.
It's a combination of two of my favorite bands. Rx Bandits and Circa Survive;
Though it sounds similar to neither.

Driven by virtuoso drummer Chris Tsagakis of Rx Bandits, he creates all of the
song structure by laying down the first track (whatever he wants to play.)
The track is then passed to Matt Embree of RxB, who lays down the bass, and lead guitar. From there on it is circulated between members (distances apart)
to lay down the rest of the programming (electronica, vocals [ a role played by a handful of members] and then post-production.) Take a listen to it,
and if you like it, pick up a copy of the new cd: Ocean and The Sun.

S A R G E N T H O U S E: You See I think Stuff like this is Funny

S A R G E N T H O U S E: You See I think Stuff like this is Funny

In Response: '"If"

I came across a blog post this morning, by a blogger member named Jaimie, which essentially asked the question: "What is 'if'? is it real?" This was my response to her article:
The function of the word 'if' comes from our desire to prepare for what's ahead of us, or what is expected in the future. So lets say: If we lived in a world without the word 'if', we would be living in a world of taking whats in front of our eyes. The idea of a world without 'if' is primitive and a instinctual.

If we didn't have the capacity to question what's going to happen, or what we want to happen, we would be another animal roaming the earth. Like a dog, or a bird, only homo-sapien.

It's the power to be able question our surroundings instead of merely absorbing them that sets us apart from other mammals. As an example: A dog sees a point of interest and it goes to investigate. It does not ask itself 'what if i go and investigate? what will I gain?' A human's mind works in such a way that we must be prepared, with our increased intelligence since the dawn of homo-erectus. We have lost our instinctual flame, it's been replaced by the addiction of knowledge and other factors.

Humans are capable of instinctual action, but they do not know how to unlock the part of their minds that allows it because it's been blanketed with absolute truth and expected reaction.

So 'if' is real. If only to the human race.

In Response: How to Kill the Music Industry

This is in response to the article titled "How to Kill the Music Industry" by guest-columnist Jens Roland @ torrentfreak.com
Her views on mainstream music vs personal file-sharing are keen and intelligent.

My response:

Honestly, I agree with what you've said about the industry trying to peddle their product much too far by charging for every little piece of it. How can they blame the decrease in album sales on p2p, and - for some reason - specifically The Pirate Bay, when they have whittled their purchasing power by allowing the sale of such undersized product.

The Music industry is probably plotting to attempt the take down of one torrent "heavy-hitter" in hopes that the rest will follow out of the fear of the same fate. I can't see this ending well for the music industry until they start looking at the infrastructure. Ironically enough, that happens to be what the world's economy needs right now. *ahem* What it is i'm trying to get at is that perhaps the music industry needs to take an awkward-long look at themselves and their surroundings, and take a big fat hint. The one that's been staring them in the face since the Napster-fiasco in '00.

Don't get me wrong, Metallica were right. Their music was being shared between thousands of people. But no one was making any money. How are they supposed to sue for the money they lost? I credit it to their own undoing (the band was having a rough time, their interpersonal issues, and not to mention, the cd sucked).

Things don't look up for the music industry right now, Unless you happen to be The Jonas Brothers or Mylie Cyrus.

My Band's first ever song!

My friend and I decided to get togeter and start jamming. After 3 practices we came to this:

It was recorded on a
Panasonic RR-US750 digital sound recorder,
inside a golf club head-cover to kill buzzing
and annoying overtones.
This is the raw take, i really hope
to get a nice polished recording some time.
And write more songs :)

Operation - Rx Bandits (Live)

This is a new song by the extremely talented Rx Bandits.
Recorded live, by This Guy

"Cobus - *Nsync - Pop (Drum Cover)

This guy knows what he's doing. I really like the fact that he sped the song up
to make it not only harder, but catchier.
And as much as I hate to admit it. *Nsync's 'Pop' was pretty catchy to begin with.

I'm Ready To Listen

I'm pretty new to the whole blog-scene.
However I hope to make my way up by asking though provoking questions, allowing you to analyze the world around you. Things you wouldn't normally consider which -- in some cases -- may sound silly, but have some sort of underlying meaning. Allow yourselves to get free and state your opinion.

I'm ready to listen.

At the end of it all, I will write a small piece about what i learned from all the opinions presented, along with my own take on what was asked.

If animals have the ability to adapt to surroundings and survive, shouldn't the human race be able to do such things in the same way; by using our brain to control and mediate our bodies reaction, to embrace it?

We all want to be able to Write Something Beautiful

I would love to write something beautiful.
I wouldn't know where to start, or what to write about.
Maybe what the eye sees; Maybe what it wants to.
Maybe there's something beautiful in nothing.
Maybe as well in everything.
I could maybe catch a glimpse of it,
if i happened to blink at just the right time.
I don't know what it may be.
But maybe it may be something different completely.
But if it happens to be something near to me.
I could see it being what i want it to be.
Maybe.
Maybe I would love to write something beautiful.
Maybe I would love to write something.
I would Love to write something beautiful.
And maybe I know just where to start.

The Upload

Yes, Hello.
This is my first blog post, it lack's character and charisma; but that all comes in time.

I've been trying by damnest to upload a drum cover to YouTube and Facebook for the past couple nights.I'm not sure if I happen to catch the late-night 'video-upload rush' each time I log on, but it's sure a pain in the arsh-hole.

It has only started to creep up the Facebook loading meter in these past five minutes (unlike previous attempts which didn't even initiate). Still no luck with YouTube. Maybe this last attempt will prove successful.

We'll find out, and we will also have a link to the video! :D
